The City of Watauga is dedicated to
significantly and continually serve the needs of existing
Watauga businesses, encourage new businesses to locate in
Watauga and improve the quality of life for the residents of
Watauga. Therefore, the City shall devise, propose, implement
and use approved methods by which the City can retain existing
businesses and create an environment conducive to the
expansion of business enterprise (general and commercial)
consistent insofar as possible with the maintenance of a
predominately residential community in which its current peace
and tranquility are preserved.

Watauga's
pro-business environment and its membership in numerous regional
and state economic development organizations, provides the
assistance needed in bringing business and industry to the
area. The City has a bustling business environment of over 400
small, medium and large firms providing a diverse group of
goods and services to its citizens.
These businesses support a quality of life unsurpassed by most
towns of this size. While the business base includes several
national chains, over 75% are owned by independent business
people.
In Watauga, you can find an ample selection of businesses
providing personal and professional services ranging from
tailor-made suits to auto parts. Several large shopping malls
are within a ten minute drive from Watauga. The City is
home to five financial institutions, major food chains and many food
establishments, thus providing freedom of choice for all of your
families' needs.
In addition, the City of Watauga provides
several economic incentives for new and expanding businesses
including: sales tax rebates, property tax
rebates, development fee rebates, and financial assistance
through loans and grants. City Council approved Guidelines
and Criteria apply to all economic development incentives.

City Named Second
Best City Offering Affordable Housing |
CNNMoney.com has named the City of Watauga as
having the second most affordable housing in the nation,
following behind Nicholasville, Kentucky. This rating
is based on data collected by the Tarrant County Tax
Accessor's Office regarding home sales for the year 2007.
Residents who buy real estate in Watauga see their incomes
go the furthest. The median home sale price for 2007
was $117,040 and the median family income was $73,203.
