Located at an elevation of 660' the City of Watauga has an
average high temperature of 76 degrees. The average low temperature is 55
degrees. The average annual precipitation is 31.56" The average yearly
snowfall is 3".
Watauga is located in the center of a region that offers
entertainment and activities for everyone.
There are
three family entertainment centers and within a five mile radius, three
multi-screen theater complexes and a water recreation park. Watauga is
also the proud owner of a modern library which provides year-round
programs for adults and children including homework assistance.
The Kimbell Art Museum,
Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth,
Amon Carter Museum and the
Fort Worth Museum of Science and History are only a short drive
from Watauga. Fort Worth also offers a first-class
zoo, the
Casa Manana
theater-in-the-round, live entertainment from jazz to country and the historic
Fort Worth
Stockyards. The city also hosts the
Bass Performance Hall which
is home to the Fort Worth
Symphony, Texas
Ballet Theater, Fort Worth
Opera, and the Van Cliburn
International Piano Competition and Cliburn Concerts.
The 160,000 fan capacity Texas Motor Speedway (NASCAR) racing track is just 10
miles northwest of Watauga. A horse racing track is within easy driving distance. Boating
and other water sports are available at several area lakes and avid golfers can choose
from public and private courses.
Another short drive to Arlington provides access to the
Six Flags Over Texas amusement
park, the
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park and major league baseball's
Texas Rangers. The
world champion
Dallas Cowboys
recently relocated to Arlington and opened a new 3 million square foot
stadium.
Dallas and its suburbs, only 30 miles away, are home to the Dallas Mavericks and the
Dallas Stars. Each fall, Dallas is also home to the
State
Fair of Texas, the nation's largest. The city also has a
renowned aquarium
and zoo.
The City of Watauga offers close proximity to
Columbia North Hills
Medical Center which is a modern, private 160 bed hospital with
more than 250 physicians on staff serving the cities in the area with a full range of
medical, surgical and dental services together with 24-hour emergency room services.
In addition, there are five other major health care systems
that serve the area - Baylor Health Care System,
Harris Methodist System,
Cooks
Children's Hospital and
John Peter Smith Hospital.
