Property Taxes

Dependent upon which school district, the tax rates for citizens of the City of Watauga are $2.620620 per $100 current value of property for residents within the Birdville School District and $2.627520 per $100 current value of the property for residents within the Keller Independent School District.  The breakdown of these rates is as follows:

The City of Watauga currently has a property tax rate equal to $0.580763 per $100 current value of the property. 

Tarrant County adds $0.264000 per $100 current value. 

The Birdville Independent School District tax rate is $1.410000 per $100 current value, while the Keller Independent School District is $1.416900.

There are additional taxes for the Tarrant County Hospital District at $0.227897, the Tarrant County College at $0.1379600. 

The Tarrant Appraisal District values all properties within the City. 

The Tarrant County Tax Office bills and collects property taxes on behalf of the City.

Sales Taxes

The Sales Tax rate within the City is 8.25 cents.  The breakdown of this rate is as follows:

The State of Texas retains the majority of this tax with 6.25 cents of the rate.

On August 25, 1973, voters approved a 1 cent local sales tax rate for the City’s General Fund.

In May of 1994, voters approved a 0.5 cents sales tax and the creation of the Watauga Park Development Corporation to build and improve City parks.

In March of 1996, voters approved another 0.5 cents sales tax and the creation of the Crime Control and Prevention District to enhance law enforcement in Watauga.

In May of 2001, voters approved to continue the 0.5 sales tax for ten more years.
