First 24-Hour Adopt-A-Thon Event - A Huge Success!

Animal Shelter
With a goal of 25 pet adoptions, the Watauga Animal Service Center began its first Adopt-A-Thon at the Animal Service Center. In days preceding the event, Animal Service Center staff gathered puppies, kittens and adult dogs and cats, filling the shelter to the maximum capacity.

Within the first three hours, 70% of those animals had been adopted, resulting in the pick-up of nine more puppies from Alvarado! Overall the shelter adopted out a total of 42 animals to new families!

The Animal Service Center would like to thank all the supporting businesses for their assistance in advertising. Thank you to Pet Haven for donating dog food and free grooming. We look forward to next year's event!

Adoption Contract Required
No animal shall be adopted from the City of Watauga Animal Service Center without the completion of a signed contract. The contract states that the adopted animal shall be spayed or neutered and vaccinated against rabies within 30 days of the adoption. The animal shall also be heartworm tested (if the animal is a dog over 6 months of age), microchipped, given a dose of intestinal worming medication and either a feline (FRCP) vaccination or canine (DA2PPv) vaccination.
